Festival first as S&C launch collectible NFTs to unlock experiences
We’ve so excited to announce a brand new, festival-first line-up of NFT collectible trading cards – The Creem League 2021 – that will unlock special, unique festival experiences at S&C.
This is the first U.K. music festival collaboration with Serenade – an eco-friendly platform supplying music related NFTs for fans to buy, sell, collect, and showcase – and marks a growing interest in NFTs across the music industry.
While alternative music venues and niche festivals have explored NFT collectibles in the past, this is the largest and most mainstream foray so far in the space. Music lovers across all ages will be able to bring a small piece of the magic of festivals back home with them in the form of collectibles – unlocking money-can’t-buy experiences in the process.
Teaming up with British-Namibian creative director, illustrator and music producer HAM the Illustrator and blockchain experts Soga World, we’ve created 8 limited edition NFT trading cards that celebrate our ground-breaking, gender balanced line-up, and historic moments to date. The collection features a series of superhero characters inspired by the headline artists performing on our Main Stage – from Burna Boy to Pa Salieu, and Cuppy to Bugzy Malone.
Limited to 200 editions each, with one special ‘founders card’ limited to 20 editions, owners of the NFTs will have access to VIP perks and special privileges at the festival – including backstage access, VIP hospitality, exclusive content, special memorabilia and the ‘Best Seats in the House’ at Childerley Orchard. Each edition will be minted on the blockchain, and the series will never be replicated. One lucky winner of a lottery prize will have the opportunity to have their very own custom NFT card made by HAM the Illustrator.
Co-Founder Preye Crooks said: "We want to establish ourselves as one of the most progressive festivals in the world, and NFTs give us the opportunity to reach a new audience in a rapidly growing market. Working with Soga World, we are now able to not only offer tickets, but specific experiences within the festival itself, across an exciting new platform. As the first Festival in the country to do this, we hope to see this adding another exciting dimension to our offering. HAM The Illustrator has produced some incredible pieces that we're thrilled to share with our network, and it's been a joy to bring the project to life.”
HAM the Illustrator said: "They say the universe works in mysterious ways and over the last year I’ve been fascinated with NFTs and the sudden explosion of this new crypto art phenomenon. It was important to all of us involved that we created something more than just a standard festival ticket. We wanted every single person that purchased one of our NFTs to have that special feeling only a true card collector understands, that feeling of owning something rare that belongs to just you. We had so much fun brainstorming cool superhero names, alter egos, special skills and looks inspired by these incredible artists, ensuring we created the absolute coolest characters and artwork possible. We put our love and passion into this project and this one-of-a-kind project is something I’m really proud to be a part of, very possibly the first festival in the world to do anything like this."
